Ecoprint initiation

In this workshop you will learn how to use plants and natural dyes to create unique and sustainable prints. With the ecoprint technique you can print natural fiber fabrics. In the workshop we will be doing a practical exercise in which we will print one neck scarf that you will take home.

In Ecoprint initiation, basic formulas will be shared that will help you print with confidence textile pieces of cellulose fiber and animal fiber. The teacher will guide you through different methods to prepare fabrics so that the natural pigments remain stable and do not disappear with washing. You will also learn the chemical characteristics of the plants and flowers that leave a better impression for a good final result.

About the teacher:

Sonia Ferrer is a fashion designer and has been working in the textile industry for over 20 years. A few years ago she created SonTonS project with the purpose of disseminating circular fashion systems through natural dyes and ecoprint.

SonTonS wants to promote the creative force in people to change habits through artistic autonomy. With natural dyes one can reconnect with nature and understand that everything has a process. Surrounding yourself with flowers and plants has a healing effect.

Their leitmotive is "TAKE CARE / PRESERVE / REPAIR". Their proposal is to recycle vintage clothes or clothes that you no longer use and create new models with natural color changes.
